San Francisco - Tahoe 2006 |
Winter Ski Trip |
February 2006: I attended the San Francisco Writer's Conference at the Mark Hopkins Hotel on Nob Hill. Scott arrived Saturday and we visited friends in town. Sunday we headed for South Lake Tahoe and got caught in a small snow storm on the drive 'up the hill' on Highway 50. Monday I tried snowboarding for the first time. Fortunately, Scott had suggested buying wrist guards and pads - both of which were put to good use. Tuesday we both switched to skiis. Both of these days were at Heavenly. Wednesday we headed to Kirkwood, which was a wonderful place to ski. Thursday we checked out of the hotel and drove over to Alpine Meadows to ski. Alpine Meadows was great too, but conditions were not as good as earlier in the week due to a warming trend and it was a bit more crowded. That night I caught the red-eye flight from Sacramento, arriving Atlanta the next morning. |
